Simple Recycling

In response to the State of Michigan's Executive Order regarding COVID-19, Simple Recycling, which collects clothing and other household items curbside (in orange bags provided by the company), has suspended collection until further notice. When the City of Lansing has received updates, we will notify residents. In the meantime, please call Simple Recycling at 866-835-5068 and request "Michigan" for additional information.

NOTE: This is not the City's recycling (green carts), which is still operating.

EGLE - Recycling Raccoons

The City of Lansing has partnered with Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) - State of Michigan's "Know It Before You Throw It" recycling campaign. Lansing values recycling and is excited to team up with the recycling raccoons to help encourage and educate the community on how to best practice sustainability.

Curbside Collection of Yard Waste

Curbside collection of yard waste went into effect again on Monday, May 4, 2020. Due to the large amount of yard waste that residents have at the curbside already, it is likely that collection will not take place on the normal collection day until crews are able to catch up.

Residents should still place yard waste at the curbside on the regular collection day, but depending on the amount of material in a given route, collection will likely be delayed up to a week or longer in some areas. *Drivers will be working extended schedules until normal collections schedules can be met.* Once material is placed, please leave it at the curbside until it is picked up.
