The following policy provides guidelines officers in the use of reasonable force when resistance is encountered to affect a lawful arrest and accomplish the lawful performance of duty while protecting the public; to provide for officer safety; and to provide for the treatment of any injury or complaint of injury arising from a response to resistance.
