Purpose


Foster mutual understanding and respect among all groups in the city, advise and recommend methods equal services to all residents of the city, study and examine problems arising between groups in the City, formulate and carry out programs of community education and information, examine reports of discrimination or prejudice,  cooperate with other public governmental or private agencies in developing courses of instruction for private and public schools showing the value of diversity, cooperate with federal, state and city agencies and departments which request advice in carrying out projects within their respective authorities, and prepare and submit reports to the Mayor and Council of its activities.

Qualifications


The Board consists of 8 members four of whom will be at-large and 1 each from the City’s four wards. The Board is appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council. Members serve 4-year terms.
