2018 Memorial Day Ceremonies in Lansing

(LANSING) – The City of Lansing will honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty with two ceremonies on Saturday, May 26th. Mayor Andy Schor will give remarks at both events.

“I have attended the City of Lansing Memorial Day events in the past. I am excited to again participate, this year as Mayor. It is an honor to represent the City of Lansing in honoring those who have served and given their lives in service to our country. I hope all will join us in this ceremony,” said Mayor Schor.

The Lansing Fire Department will honor our firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, along with all active and retired firefighters who have passed throughout the year at Mt. Hope Cemetery (1800 E. Mt. Hope Ave. Lansing) at 11:00AM.

Following the Fire Department’s Ceremony, the City of Lansing’s Memorial Day Committee’s annual event will be held at Evergreen Cemetery (2600 E. Mt. Hope Ave. Lansing) at 12:00PM in the Little Arlington section. This year’s theme is, “We Will Never Forget.”

The committee is thrilled to announce that the Navy Band Great Lakes will be performing during the ceremony. All of the band’s primary performing units embark on concert tours each year throughout the Midwest, allowing the group to reach out to audiences that do not have opportunities to see Sailors on a regular basis. Performances are family-friendly events, meant to be entertaining and patriotic for young and old alike. In addition to the Navy Band Great Lakes, the Old Skool Fellas will be performing.

The public is invited to attend both events. Additional information can be found at
