22nd Annual Mayor's Family Riverwalk Set for Saturday, June 9th

LANSING — The City of Lansing Department of Parks and Recreation invites everyone to join Mayor Andy Schor for the 22nd Annual Mayor’s Family Riverwalk on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the walk starting at 9:00 a.m.

“The riverfront and river trail are two of Lansing’s greatest assets and I am excited to spend Saturday morning walking with residents while enjoying the beauty that our city has to offer,” said Mayor Andy Schor.

The 3-mile walk begins at Potter Park Zoo and ends at our beautiful Turner-Dodge House. Family-friendly, fun events are featured along the walking route. Free canoeing/kayaking will be provided by River Town Adventures. Boats will launch from Potter Park and end at the Lansing City Market, where boaters will be able to dock and meet up with the walkers to finish the route.

The first 1,000 walkers will receive a free T-shirt designed by Gravity Works. Certificates of completion and free refreshments will be available at Turner-Dodge House. A free shuttle service, courtesy of Dean Transportation, will be provided to take participants back to the zoo parking lot.

The Mayor’s Family Riverwalk is made possible thanks to the generous support of Jackson National Life, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Emergent BioSolutions, C2AE, AF Group, Inc., Gravity Works, Marshall Music, Waste Management, Dean Transportation and Glory Bee Sweet Treats.

Enjoy Lansing’s award-winning river trail while getting fit! For more information on the event, please call the Lansing Parks and Recreation office at 517-483-4277.
