On Monday, September 23, 2019, site clearing will begin for the $270-million mixed-use Red Cedar Development project, in preparation for the future construction on the Michigan Avenue Corridor.
"After many years of discussions and negotiations, we finally have the beginning of a project which will provide housing, restaurants, retail, parkland and other great amenities for Lansing residents that will connect the Capitol to MSU," said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. "I am excited to see this project move forward."
Closing of the sale of the property is in the process of being finalized and is expected to happen in the next few weeks. The City of Lansing and Continental/Ferguson have agreed to allow site clearing to commence on September 23rd, in order to ensure that the project will meet necessary timelines.
Frank Kass, managing partner of Continental/Ferguson said, “I am grateful to the City of Lansing and surrounding communities and I look forward to making this a beautiful area for all to enjoy.”
An official Groundbreaking Ceremony is expected to take place in early October of 2019, construction expected to be completed by the Fall of 2022.
