Parking Just Got Easier in Lansing

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor today unveiled significant parking upgrades featured throughout Lansing.

As part of a multi-year Extreme Makeover of city parking, improvements include ramp upgrades, wayfinding, pay stations and the Passport Parking app. With these upgrades come increased curb appeal and convenience for those who work and visit the capital city.

Starting today, drivers have an easier way to pay for parking through the Passport Parking app.  While cash can still be used at the pay stations, smartphone users can pay directly from their device while parking at any of the nearly 3,000 parking spaces throughout the city.

“Since taking office in January 2018, I have received many requests for an updated parking system in the downtown Lansing area,” said Schor. “Lansing’s time is now, and I’m thrilled to move our city’s parking system to the 21st century!”

Convenient and user-friendly parking helps attract more people to the city. The improvements are part of an overall placemaking strategy for Lansing.

“Thank you to all of our parking customers who have been patient as we made these significant upgrades,” said Chad Gamble, City of Lansing Parking Manager. “Lansing truly does have some of the best people in the Midwest, and we are grateful to provide the best experience while in Lansing.”

The Passport Parking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at passportparking.com.
