Public Workshop to be Held to Address the Conversion of Downtown One-Way Streets to Two-Way

As announced during Mayor Andy Schor’s State of the City 2020 Address, the City of Lansing plans to convert the following six one-way streets in downtown Lansing to two-way: Capitol Avenue, Grand Avenue, Ottawa Street, Allegan Street, Walnut Street and Pine Street.

The City will hold an informative workshop on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Michigan Municipal League’s Training Room in the basement of the Christman Building. The Christman Building is located at 208 N. Capitol Avenue, Lansing 48933.

“Conversation of many of our one-way streets to two-way will transform downtown Lansing. Two-way streets have been shown to slow traffic, make streets more pedestrian-friendly, safer for our residents and visitors, and more beneficial to local businesses by giving them more visibility,” said Mayor Schor. “We will continue to keep the public informed as we make these changes to the traffic flow of our downtown.”

The workshop will be open to the public and provide the opportunity for attendees to review project information, ask questions, provide input and discuss specific issues as the details of the project will soon be finalized.

The project is tentatively planned to begin in the late summer of 2020. For additional information on the project, please visit: lansingmi.gov/twoway. For questions about the workshop, please call the Public Service Department at (517) 483-4455.
