Dear Lansing Small Business Owner,
We hope you are staying well through this continued challenging time.
We are reaching out to inform you that the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) is providing at least $3,000,000 in federal CARES Act funds for Weatherization Grants to help small businesses expand their capacity by adding weatherized, temporary outdoor facilities. A few examples of projects that could be funded are igloos and tents, portable heaters, outdoor furniture and equipment, and upgrades necessary to increase capacity for takeout and delivery.
Small Business grant requests of $1,000-$10,000 will be accepted. Commercial property owners and municipalities may be considered for up to $15,000. Grant requests will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. The application opens at noon EST this Wednesday November 18th, 2020. Therefore, you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible once the application opens! The application will be found at www.miwintergrants.org.
Applicants must have 50 or fewer FTE employees. Eligible industries include: restaurants/bars; banquet centers; retail stores; gyms and fitness centers; local governments providing space for businesses; and commercial property owners providing common space for tenants. You may be eligible for this grant regardless of if you were awarded other grants or loans previously!
To help you prepare your application ahead of time, application requirements and additional information is available at https://www.sbam.org/weatherization-grants/.
