Sewer Separation Project to Reduce Lanes With Modified Traffic Shift on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. / M-99

The City of Lansing Public Service Department announces that on Friday, August 16, 2019, that the previously established lane reductions will continue on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. between Victor Avenue and Moores River Drive, but the existing traffic shift will be modified to place northbound and southbound through traffic onto the east-side of the boulevard, only.  The turn prohibitions associated with this sewer separation and underground utility construction project will also continue to be implemented.  The following traffic control measures will be in place on Friday, August 16:
  • southbound through traffic will be reduced from three lanes to one lane;
  • northbound through traffic will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes;
  • this two-way traffic will now be established on the east-side of the boulevard; and
  • between Moores River Dr. and Lenore Ave., left turns to and from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will continue to be prohibited.
Access to areas west of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd (north of Victor to the Grand River)
Use Pleasant Grove/Boston and/or Waverly Road to access Mt. Hope and the residential streets.

Access to areas east of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd (north of Victor to Moores River Drive)
Use Washington Avenue to access Mt. Hope Avenue and the residential streets (i.e., the Moores Park Neighborhood, etc.).

Signalized intersections along Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., in the vicinity of the project, will be affected as follows:
  • Holmes Road - fully open during the project
  • Mt. Hope Ave. – No Left Turns from Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd onto Mt. Hope Ave.
  • Barnes – Eastbound right turns and north/south through traffic only
Work on Martin Luther, King, Jr. is expected to last through early October.

Bi-weekly updates will be provided through the project Facebook page, “Lansing CSO Project”.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes.
