Street Closures and Lane Restrictions for the Capital City River Run 5K and Half Marathon 

The City of Lansing Public Service Department announces the following street closures and lane reductions will be in effect on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in order to accommodate the Capital City River Run’s Weekend of Races 5K and Half Marathon.
 
The below scheduled times and locations are estimated and may vary.
 
Street Closings and/or Lane Restrictions between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Michigan Avenue between Grand Avenue and Cedar Street Closed for staging
EB lane restrictions Michigan Avenue between Cedar Street and east City Limits (Friendship Circle), lane restrictions will continue outside the eastern limits of Lansing to Beal Street in East Lansing.
 
NOTE: due to ongoing construction on Michigan Avenue between Morgan Lane and Harrison Road. There will approximately one hour that EB Michigan Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic. This closure will be implemented by the Lansing and East Lansing Police Departments. During this time the Posted Detour will be north on Homer Street to Saginaw Street, east on Saginaw to Grand River Avenue, east on Grand River Avenue to Harrison Road south on Harrison to return to Michigan Avenue.
 
Street Closings and/or lane restrictions may be in place between 5:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Capitol Avenue between Ionia Street and Ottawa Street (lane reductions),
Walnut Street between Kalamazoo Street and Washtenaw Street (lane restrictions),
Walnut Street between Washtenaw Street and Ottawa Street (closed to traffic),
Ottawa St. will be reduced to one WB travel lanes between Grand Avenue and Butler Blvd,
Pine Street between Ionia Street and Ottawa Street (lane restriction),
Pine Street between Ottawa Street and Allegan Street (closed to traffic),
 
Street Closings and/or lane restrictions between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Capitol Avenue between Ottawa Street and Allegan Street (closed to Traffic),
Washington Square between Allegan Street and Ottawa Street (closed to traffic),
City Market Drive between Cedar Street and Michigan Avenue (closed to thru traffic),
Museum Drive between City Market Drive and Dead End to the south (closed to traffic),
(City Market and the Lansing Center lower parking lots will only be accessible from City Market Drive off of Cedar Street),
 
Street Closings and/or lane restrictions between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Grand Avenue between Washtenaw Street and Shiawassee Street (closed to traffic),
Michigan Avenue between Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue
Butler Boulevard between Kalamazoo Street and Allegan Street (closed to thru traffic),
Allegan Street between ML King and Grand Avenue (closed to traffic),
 
Vehicle Pedestrian possible conflicts between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Motorists are also being advised to be on the lookout for potential pedestrian vehicle conflicts areas from the Half Marathon along the route in Lansing, East Lansing and along Ingham County roads

Local access to businesses will be maintained during this event.  If access within the race route is needed there will be Lansing Police Department (LPD) personnel and/or LPD authorized personnel located at the intersections to help guide motorist safely to their destinations with minimal delays. You may contact LPD at 483-4667 during regular business hours prior to the event with questions.
 
Additional Race Information:
The Half Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. on Michigan Avenue in front of the Lansing Center and will travel east on Michigan Avenue to Beal Street south on Beal Street Road to Kalamazoo Street , west on Kalamazoo Street to the River Trail. The event will follow the river trail through Crego Park to Aurelius Road. The Half Marathon will travel south along Aurelius Road to Willard Avenue where it will rejoin the river trail going around Hawk Island Park. The Half Marathon will than follow the river trail north crossing Mt Hope and continuing on the river trail to City Market Drive crossing Cedar Street to finish inside of Cooley Stadium.
 
The 5K race will also start at 8:00 a.m. traveling west on Michigan Avenue to Capitol Avenue, south on Capitol Avenue to Washtenaw Street, west on Washtenaw Street to Walnut Street, north on Walnut Street to the Pedestrian Walkway behind the State Capital. The 5K will follow the Pedestrian Walk way to Butler Street, south to Allegan Street, east on Allegan Street to Pine Street, north on Pine Street to Ottawa Street, east on Ottawa Street to the river trail access at Grand Avenue. The 5K will follow the river trail through Adado River Front Park across the foot bridge and traveling south on the river trail to City Market Drive crossing Cedar Street to finish inside of Cooley Stadium.
