MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BLVD. (M-99) / W. MT. HOPE AVE. PAVING TO REDUCE TRAVEL LANES TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd

The City of Lansing Public Service Department announces that Mt. Hope Avenue, including the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. (M-99) will be paved on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. During intersection paving,  which is expected to take up to four hours, all eastbound and westbound traffic on W. Mt. Hope Avenue, will be required to turn right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Motorists on Mt. Hope wishing to continue through, or turn left at the intersection will be able to do so by using the crossover lanes in the boulevard.

During intersection paving, travel lanes will be reduced on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. at Mt. Hope.

In addition to the paving operations in the intersection, final paving of W. Mt. Hope Avenue between Bradley Avenue and MLK will be occurring, while maintaining eastbound and westbound traffic.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes.

These paving activities are associated with the efforts to complete the City’s Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) 034C Project.  The following streets are expected to be completely paved before November 3, 2019:

  • Fletcher Street;
  • Stirling Avenue;
  • Delevan Avenue;
  • Rundle Avenue;
  • Beal Avenue;
  • Park Avenue;
  • George Street;
  • W. Barnes Avenue between Bradley Avenue and MLK.

Other streets in the project area: Berten Street, Goodrich Street and W. Barnes Avenue (west of MLK), will be final paved in the spring of 2020, but these streets will all receive the base course of asphalt pavement before the end of the 2019 construction season.
